Brandi Weigand, a 91ÊÓƵ senior chemistry major, received an undergraduate research grant from 91ÊÓƵ's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Her research, "Luminescence of Lanthanide Complexes Containing Novel Macromolecular Schiff Base Ligands," is advised by Dr. Peter Smith, 91ÊÓƵ associate professor of chemistry.
Weigand is a daughter of William and Kathleen Weigand of Allison Park and a graduate of Hampton High School.
"An important component of the work of the Drinko Center is to enhance opportunities for undergraduate research," said Dr. Terri Lenox, 91ÊÓƵ associate professor of computer science and co-director of the Drinko Center. "The Undergraduate Research Initiative provides funding for students to conduct research and to present their research at regional and national conferences."
All grant recipients have the opportunity to participate in 91ÊÓƵ's Undergraduate Research Symposium in April.
