Dr. Jamie McMinn, professor of psychology at 91ÊÓƵ, has been appointed to two national leadership positions that will help shape psychology education for high school and undergraduate students across the country.

Effective July 1, McMinn became chief reader for the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Psychology Exam following 19 years of participating in and leading the annual AP Psychology Reading. In the role, he will work with the Test Development Committee to help create the annual AP Psychology exam and oversee the scoring process for essays written by high school students who complete the exam.

More than 379,500 high school students took the AP Psychology exam in 2026, making it the sixth most popular AP subject by exam volume. More than 1,000 high school and college faculty members were trained to evaluate student responses.

McMinn also has been appointed to the Committee on Associate and Baccalaureate Education (CABE), a committee of the American Psychological Association (APA). His three-year term begins in January 2027.

CABE promotes excellence in undergraduate psychology education and advances initiatives that strengthen psychology as a scientific discipline. Recent committee efforts have included increasing psychology students’ artificial intelligence literacy and implementing the APA’s Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major 3.0. McMinn’s expertise in assessment and vocational discernment will contribute to future initiatives examining how psychology curricula prepare students for careers.

“Both AP Psychology and CABE reflect my passion for psychology education and student learning,” McMinn said. “I look forward to the ways in which I will work with psychology faculty across the nation to influence how our discipline is taught in high schools, colleges and universities. I am equally excited to help faculty members focus on assessment and continuous improvement as we guide students on their career journeys.”

McMinn, who joined 91ÊÓƵ in 2003, earned an undergraduate degree from Emory & Henry College and master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
