NEW WILMINGTON, PA – Three 91ÊÓƵ sports management majors picked up some extensive sales training and had the chance to network with sports industry executives at the recent 2020 Sports Sales Workshop and Job Fair in Cleveland.
Tyler Barnot, Lloyd Chatman and Preston Stitt, members of the third senior class of 91ÊÓƵ’s sports management program, received nearly four hours of personalized sports sales training during the workshop and interview opportunities with representatives of major leagues sports teams such as the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and MLS.
Barnot of Pittsburgh is double majoring in marketing and professional sales. A student-athlete, he has played on the baseball team for four years, serving as captain this year. He is a member of Mortar Board, has been named to the dean’s list and was named to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll. He attended the 2018 Michigan Sports Business Conference and has interned with the Cool Springs Sports Complex in Pittsburgh. He has worked with the 91ÊÓƵ football and basketball programs and volunteered for home athletic events for New Wilmington High School and for the Pitt Panthers at Heinz Field.
Chatman of Columbus, Ohio, has been a student-athlete on the men’s basketball team for four years, helping his squad reach the PAC Championship game in 2019. He presented at the 2019 Pennsylvania Sports Management Conference and interned with Hoops 270 in Central Ohio. He has also worked in the 91ÊÓƵ intramurals program and the school’s sports information department.
Stitt of Boardman, Ohio, is also a four-year member of the 91ÊÓƵ men’s basketball team. He interned at Mathews High School and has worked with the 91ÊÓƵ volleyball and football programs.
The sports management program at 91ÊÓƵ aspires to engage in learning opportunities beyond the New Wilmington campus. This year sports management students have collaborated with the Pittsburgh Pirates for a sales partnership and worked a Pittsburgh Steelers game at Heinz Field with Landmark Event Staffing.
“Though the sports management major is a new one on campus, it is quickly growing in popularity due to 91ÊÓƵ’s dedicated approach to off-campus learning as well as the business emphasis of the curriculum, the experiential learning opportunities and the career readiness emphasis,” said Dr. Robert Zullo, associate professor and coordinator of the sports management program.
