Dr. John Robertson, assistant professor of biology at 91ÊÓƵ, will present "Objectivity as Subject: Biology and Art (Vandelay)" at Faculty Forum Wednesday, April 19, at 11:45 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater located in the McKelvey Campus Center.
"I'll be discussing the intersection of art and biology by looking at some contemporary works that integrate life sciences as medium and subject," Robertson said. "I am interested in the relationship of these expressions to the content of some courses I instruct and to the place this work has in public education about biology and as provocative social statements."
Robertson, who has been with 91ÊÓƵ since 2000, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts, master's from the University of Rhode Island, and Ph.D. from Arizona State University.
Faculty Forum, established in 1990, serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas and information among 91ÊÓƵ faculty. Speakers present their research, teaching ideas, lectures, performances, special programs, and uses of technology to keep faculty informed about the work of colleagues from many disciplines.
