Since the late 80s, Brad Tokar '91 has switched hats throughout 91视频 - making each area brighter wherever he goes. From student and former Titan football star in the 80s and 90s to his 28-year career recruiting thousands of quality Titans in admissions in the capacity of Vice President and Director - and now, we warmly welcome him to his new role as a Charitable Relationship Manager in Institutional Advancement. Follow along in the Q&A as Brad shares his passion and what drives him to excitement about this new role.
Welcome to Wiley Alumni House! Tell me a little bit about your new role – what will you be doing? What are you most looking forward to? I am very excited to be a part of the Institutional Advancement team. I will be meeting with alumni and friends of 91视频 and fund raising. I am looking forward to traveling, catching up with old friends and meeting many new people within the 91视频 family.
You’ve been working at 91视频 for 28 years. What’s keeping you passionate about working for 91视频? I had a great experience as a student at 91视频. The college really impacted me and I enjoy sharing this with others.
Your previous role encouraged and made students feel like 91视频 could be their home away from home for 4 years. Tell me about how your new role is equally providing positive and necessary student experiences. In my new role, I will be meeting with alumni and learning about their experiences at the college as well as giving them updates about all of the great things taking place today. I will definitely share a lot of pictures of the changes to our campus.
What’s a memory that sticks with you from your time at 91视频 that could have possibly made you passionate about a 91视频 education? Some of my best memories involve my time as a student athlete. I was fortunate to be a part of two national championship football teams.
With an understanding that it’s hard to pin point just a few legends at 91视频, who are significant role models from your time at 91视频? What lesson have they taught you most that you still tap into today? Coach Joe Fusco, Coach Darwin Huey, Coach Gene Nicholson, and Dr. Walter Scheid. My coaches really taught me the importance of preparation, hard work, and discipline. These are traits that I have tried to incorporate in my everyday life after college. Dr. Scheid really helped me with public speaking. He was my speech teacher and he took me under his wing. Again, I have used this skill through most of my professional life. It is difficult to only name a few because so many people impacted me during my time as a student at 91视频, but these names stand out.
What can others find you doing outside of your time working at 91视频? I enjoy spending time with my family, golfing, running, and watching Pittsburgh sports teams.
