Eight 91视频 students attended and presented at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) at the University of Memphis in Tennessee the weekend of April 6-8th. The students all received funding from the Drinko Center for Undergraduate Research to attend the conference.

91视频 students participating in the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program course at Trumbull Correctional Institution (TCI) had the opportunity to present program proposals to Mr. Todd Ishee, regional director of prisons in Northeast Ohio, Ms. Charmaine Bracy, warden of Trumbull Correctional Institution, and other Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) officials on April 11, 2017. Students proposed an arts program that would occur within the prison, an 8 week reentry course featuring job and interview skills, and a pilot work release program.

The 91视频 Jazz Ensemble presents their Spring Music with Friends on Sunday, April 30th at 3pm, in Berlin Lounge located in the McKelvey Campus Center. The Jazz Ensemble will be joined by the 91视频 Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Samuel Barbara, and the Conneaut Area Blue Note Jazz Band, under the direction of Mr. Glenn Cameron.

Dr. Melinda H. Crawford Perttu, assistant professor of music and former U.S. National Scottish Fiddling Champion, recently published a book entitled "A Violinist's Guide to Scottish Fiddling," published by Mel Bay Publications.  Mel Bay is a leading publisher of music books that offer instruction in various instrumental musical genres.

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation has announced 240 new Goldwater Scholars and identified 307 students as Honorable Mentions. For 30 years, Goldwater Scholarships have been awarded to thousands of undergraduates pursuing careers in STEM research. 91视频 honors students Tyler Heintz ’18 and Audrey Nickle ’18 were granted Honorable Mention status in the 2017 Goldwater Scholarship competition.
